About ninety percent of my illustrations start with a quick pencil/pen sketch in my sketchbook or random scarps of paper. Here is just one little example of a sketchbook page I doodled last month for some Valentine cards that I wanted to create for my shop (they will be available sometime this week). In the first picture, you can see a sneak peek of one of the final illustrations too.
Jeremy got me this 8.5 x 11″ Daler Rowney Hardbound Sketchbook last November as my other one was running out of room. It works really well with pen and ink, colored pencils or even watercolors, but using less water. It’s a bit heavy (for me) to carry everywhere, but perfect to have it at home.
As a side note, THANK YOU so much for all your thoughts/feedback on my last post! It has been really encouraging hearing from you and I will consider your suggestions for this new year. Xx!
