Archives for June 2013
The other day I posted this picture on Instagram and a lot of people have been asking me for the recipe. My mom used to make this for us when I was little and I have loved eating it ever since. As you will soon find out, it is super easy to make.
The ingredients are:
2 cups of sugar (I only used 1 cup)
3 spoons of vanilla sugar (optional)
3/4 cups water
2 cups of powdered milk
1/4 cups of cocoa
1/2 cups butter (around 80% fat)
Optional: For a little extra flavor you can add 1 tsp of rum or nutmeg essence. You can also add pieces of nuts/walnuts.
Using a low flame, boil the water in a little kettle and slowly add the sugar into the water while stirring until the sugar is melted and becomes syrupy. Once the syrup is ready, put the kettle aside and add the butter. In a separate bowl, mix the powdered milk and cocoa together and then slowly pour the syrup into the mix while it is still warm. Once everything is nicely mixed you can pour the chocolate into a flat cooking pan that’s covered with a baking sheet. Let the chocolate cool down and then store it in the fridge.
Side Note: The chocolate will not have a very hard consistency like the chocolate you buy in the store, but it should be easy to cut into pieces.
I have never used sugar substitutes for the recipe, but I would like to try it sometime.
Let me know how it turns out. Hope you will enjoy! :)
